DSK: charges abandonnées? (NY Times)

Selon l'avocat de la femme de chambre...

"The Manhattan district attorney’s office has scheduled a meeting for Monday afternoon with the woman who accused Dominique Strauss-Kahn of sexual assault, and her lawyer said he believed it to be a clear indication that prosecutors would seek to have a judge dismiss all or some of the charges at the next court hearing, on Tuesday.

“My interpretation of that letter is that they’re going to announce that they’re dismissing the case entirely, or some of the charges,” said the lawyer, Kenneth P. Thompson, who is representing Nafissatou Diallo, the hotel housekeeper who accused Mr. Strauss-Kahn of trying to rape her when she went to clean his suite at the Sofitel New York in May.

“If they were not going to dismiss the charges,” Mr. Thompson added on Saturday, “there would be no need to meet with her. They would just go to court the next day to say, ‘We’re going to proceed with the case.’ ”

Mr. Thompson said, however, that he and his client would attend the meeting.

Prosecutors in the office of the Manhattan district attorney, Cyrus R. Vance Jr., have been mum about whether they plan to continue pursuing the sexual-assault case against Mr. Strauss-Kahn, the former managing director of the International Monetary Fund and once a leading contender to be the next president of France. Yet, since late June, when prosecutors provided Mr. Strauss-Kahn’s lawyers with information that was widely seen as seriously undermining Ms. Diallo’s credibility as a witness — information they were required to disclose — there has been speculation that Mr. Vance would seek to dismiss the case."
