Le sourire d'Obama: la dernière récolte est de 70 millions!

Enfin des chiffres positifs pour le Président! Plus que ce qu'on espérait et plus que les trois candidats républicains Romney, Perry et Cain!

"Numbers haven’t been kind to President Barack Obama lately — low polls, high employment rates, lousy Senate vote tallies — but he can take comfort in one figure announced Thursday morning: A combined $70.1 million third quarter fundraising haul by the Obama campaign and Democratic National Committee.

Campaign manager Jim Messina had set the floor at around $55 million in a September conference call with Obama finance officials, but the totals instead breezed past that amount - $42.8 million for Obama’s campaign committee and an additional $27.3 million for the national party.

The total, as expected, was a drop-off from the second quarter, when the combined total was $86 million. But Messina and other campaign officials had prepared the ground for the lower numbers, arguing that the drop-off would be less a reflection of the president’s poll numbers than an expected slacking of donations in the summer months, combined with the cancellation of several fundraisers due to the debt ceiling talks.

The top three GOP presidential contenders , meanwhile, are expected to have raised about half that much cumulatively, with Texas Gov. Rick Perry, Mitt Romney and Herman Cain raising $17 million, $14 million and $8 million respectively. The Republican National Committee raised a respectable $9.3 million over the same period, but still has millions in debt.

“We did more with less this quarter - we cancelled a series of events over the summer as congressional negotiations were ongoing, and our supporters stepped up in their stead,” wrote an Obama campaign official in an email. “Even more supporters contributed this quarter and we’re now within striking distance of one million donors, something it took us a year to accomplish between Feb 07 and Feb 08, and that was in the midst of an energetic primary.”"
