Parti républicain: toujours plus bas?

Il y a déjà plusieurs années que les observateurs de la scène politique américaine souhaite des changements au sein du G.O.P.. Ce parti, jadis si influent, n'arrive pas à s'ajuster aux nouvelles réalités, particulièrement les changements démographiques. On imagine les dirigeants du parti s'arrachant les cheveux lorsqu'ils tentent de préparer la prochaine présidentielle... Quel candidat voudra mener des troupes divisées et parfois déconnectées de la réalité? Pendant toutes les primaires républicaines Mitt Romney a été confrontés à des candidats peu sérieux parce que la majorité des joueurs crédibles ont décidé d'attendre.

 • The party is hurting itself even more with the very voters they need to start winning back: Hispanics, blacks, gays, women and swing voters of all stripes.
 • The few Republicans who stood up and tried to move the party ahead were swatted into submission: Speaker John Boehner on fiscal matters and Sen. Marco Rubio on immigration are the poster boys for this.
• Republicans are all flirting with a fall that could see influential party voices threatening to default on the debt or shut down the government — and therefore ending all hopes of proving they are not insane when it comes to governance."
