"Terry Francona has left Fenway Park. So have John Henry and Tom Werner.
And, still, there is no word on Francona’s fate.
According to a source, the mutual plan entering this morning’s meeting was that the Red Sox and Francona (AP photo) would part ways after an eight-year partnership, and that is unlikely to change, even if nothing is announced today.
Francona’s multiyear contract includes two club option years for 2012 ($4.25 million) and 2013 ($4.5 million) or a $750,000 buyout. Francona has led the Red Sox to five playoff appearances and two World Series title since he replaced Grady Little before the 2004 season. His career mark with the Red Sox is 744-552."
Theo Epstein: "“John Henry, Tom Werner, Larry Lucchino, Ben Cherington and I met with Terry Francona this morning at Fenway Park to exchange thoughts and information on the 2011 season and discuss areas for improvement going forward. We all plan on taking some time to process the thoughts expressed in the meeting. There are no immediate plans for an announcement.”"
