La C.I.A. déjoue un complot terroriste

Les explosifs étaient dissimulés dans les sous-vêtements.

"The updated version of the bomb did not contain metal, and as such would not have set off airport metal detectors. However, it was not immediately clear whether the body scanners now used in many American airports would have detected it. The FBI is currently examining the bomb to see if it could have passed through security and taken out a plane.

The plot was supposed to be carried out around the one-year anniversary of the death of Osama bin Laden, who was killed May 2, 2011. However, the alleged plotter — based in Yemen — had not yet picked a target or purchased a plane ticket when the CIA intervened and seized the bomb, officials who insisted on anonymity told the AP.

“As a result of close cooperation with our security and intelligence partners overseas, an improvised explosive device (IED) designed to carry out a terrorist attack has been seized abroad. The FBI currently has possession of the IED and is conducting technical and forensics analysis on it,” the FBI said in a statement released Monday.
