Gabby Giffords reprend le volant

J'ai souvent relayé des articles portant sur Gabrielle Giffords dans mon carnet web. Cette ancienne représentante démocrate du Congrès qui fut victime d'un tireur fou il y a trois ans. Mme Giffords fut atteinte à la tête et elle se bat depuis pour retrouver son autonomie. Cette semaine elle a été en mesure de conduire une voiture sur un circuit fermé.  L'an dernier elle est intervenue régulièrement dans le débat pour resserrer le contrôle des armes à feu aux États-Unis.  Malheureusement pour elle ce dossier progresse peu.

 "“Driving at CoTA was a bit like racing my motorcycle back in Arizona—but this time, it was just me, Mark and the pavement,” Giffords wrote. “I feel honored to have taken this important step on one of the finest tracks in the world. And while I may not be Mario Andretti, I think I handled the road pretty well.”

 Earlier this year, Giffords, commemorated the anniversary of the shooting that left six dead and critically wounded her by penning an op-ed for the New York Times on gun control and going sky-diving.

 Since she went skydiving, the former lawmaker said she has made more progress including, “practicing my French Horn, working on my speaking, and walking a bit faster every day.”
