Scott Walker quitte la course

Après Rick Perry, un second candidat quitte la course. La présence de Donald Trump explique partiellement cet abandon. La présence du milliardaire en tête des sondages a forcé quelques candidats à puiser au fond de leur cagnotte pour tenter de se démarquer. Le "flirt" des républicains avec Walker aura donc été de courte durée. Je considérais Walker comme un candidat sérieux pour une éventuelle campagne au plan national. Il reste encore Jeb Bush, John Kasich et Marco Rubio. De ces trois campagnes celle de Jeb Bush est nettement la plus riche, ce qui lui permet d'être plus patient (trop) et d'attendre que les autres s'épuisent.

The departure represents a stunning fall for the Wisconsin governor, who led polls in Iowa for several months earlier this year after delivering a well-received speech there in January that inspired both the party's grassroots and its donor class. For months, Walker was viewed as a top contender, but he failed to live up to the early hype he inspired -- he struggled with the consistency of his positions, appeared overly scripted and seemed to lack command of the issues, particularly on foreign policy.
