Obama s'en prend directement à Donald Trump

Si le président Obama était relativement discret depuis son départ de la Maison Blanche, il a profité d'une remise de prix plus tôt aujourd'hui pour se lancer dans la campagne démocrate en vue des élections de mi-mandat. S'il a souligné des l'importance de certaines politiques, il n'a pas ménagé son successeur.

" In a speech meant to frame his message on the campaign trail over the next two months, Mr. Obama offered a stinging indictment of his successor, sometimes by name, sometimes by inference, accusing him and his Republican supporters of practicing a “politics of fear and resentment,” cozying up to Russia, emboldening white supremacists and politicizing law enforcement agencies. “None of this is conservative,”

Mr. Obama told an auditorium of students from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. “I don’t mean to pretend I’m channeling Abraham Lincoln now but that’s not what he had in mind, I think, when he helped form the Republican Party. It’s not conservative. It sure isn’t normal. It’s radical. It’s a vision that says the protection of our power and those who back us is all that matters even when it hurts the country.”
