Hillary bombarde Trump

Toujours embêtée par son rival démocrate Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton attaque Donald Trump avec vigueur depuis deux jours. Hier elle s'inquiétait de l'accès aux codes nucléaires. Elle en profite pour mettre à l'essai quelques angles d'attaque.

 "Trump has said contradictory things about nuclear arms. During a December primary debate, he said the U.S. must be "extremely vigilant and extremely careful when it comes to nuclear," adding that "the biggest problem we have is nuclear proliferation, and having some maniac, having some madman go out and get a nuclear weapon."

More recently, Trump has seemed to shrug his shoulders at the idea that more countries might acquire nuclear arms in the near future, something he said in a CNN town hall in April "is going to happen anyway." He has even shown clear support for admitting certain new members to the nuclear club: “Wouldn't you rather in a certain sense have Japan have nuclear weapons when North Korea has nuclear weapons?” he asked during the CNN event. (Also at the forum, Trump flatly stated that he does not favor a nuclear-armed Saudi Arabia, contrary to Clinton's assertion Thursday.)"

"Weiner": le film braque les projecteurs sur Huma Abedin proche conseillère d'Hillary Clinton

On vient tout juste de lancer un documentaire sur la campagne à la mairie de New York d'Anthony Weiner. Impliqué à plus d'une reprise dans des scandales sexuels, Weiner devra éventuellement abandonner. Le documentaire permet également de découvrir un peu plus la proche conseillère d'Hillary Clinton, Huma Abedin, qui est marié à Weiner. Un mari infidèle? Des scandales à répétition? Une épouse brillante et déterminée qui accepte de subir les retombées des écarts de conduite de son mari? Oui, il y a des similitudes dans le destin des deux femmes.

 "“Weiner” premiered in January at the Sundance Film Festival, opened in the top 10 markets on May 27, and will spread to screens across the country in coming weeks. The ex-congressman has said he gave filmmakers Josh Kriegman, a former staffer, and Elyse Steinberg access in hopes that people might get a fuller picture of him. But at this point, the person everyone wants to see is his wife.

The timing of the film’s release is hardly ideal, coming at a moment when Clinton appears poised to become the first woman to win a major party’s presidential nomination. Abedin comes off as the oldest stereotype in politics: the suffering, ornamental spouse."

Voisins séparés par la frontière canado-américaine et la sécurité accrue

Il y a quelques petites localités qui chevauchent la frontière canado-américaine et si les mesures de sécurité à la frontière peuvent conférer une certaine confiance, plusieurs considèrent que c'est de plus en plus lourd à porter.

 "Surveillance has grown stricter and more intrusive all along the 3,900-mile lower-U.S.-Canadian frontier since Sept. 11, 2001, creating a continent-wide gulf that many argue reflects a political parting of ways, as well — American conservatism vs. Canadian socialism, as defined by Canada’s universal health care, maternity leave, tough gun laws, and subsidized day care and higher education.

But the burden borne by the Vermont-Quebec communities is unique. Residents linked by intermarriage, blood relations and, in many cases, dual citizenship are now separated by an invisible but hardening wall. Neighborhoods that once shared schools, sports facilities, doctors and churches in a kind of free-flowing human commerce have retreated to their own sides of the border."

 Harambe est ce gorille du zoo de Cincinnati abattu après qu'un jeune garçon soit tombé dans son enclos. Les autorités du zoo affirment qu'il n'y avait pas d,autres options pour préserver la vie de l'enfant. Depuis l'incident il y a eu de nombreuses réactions de colère à l'endroit des dirigeants de l'institution et des parents du gamin.
