Je me suis intéressé à la victoire de Childish Gambino (Donald Glover) parce qu'il est le premier à l'emporter chez les artistes du hip-hop, mais aussi parce que "This is America" est particulièrement chargé au plan de la symbolique raciale. L'artiste n'était pas présent tout comme d'autres interprètes de la même catégorie pour protester contre le fait qu'on ne reconnaît pas leur style musical à sa juste valeur.

Fifteen years later, who could blame rap’s brightest lights for staying away from the microphone? “This Is America” was the first rap tune to win song of the year. Ever.
