"Stocks for the company that makes Etch A Sketch surged Thursday and the toy’s sales on Amazon spiked. Spurred by recently publicity on the presidential campaign trail, the stock price for the Ohio Art Company, which created the toy 50 years ago, traded over the counter Thursday at a price more than double its Wednesday closing figure of $4, soaring to $12.50 - a 52-week high - before settling $9.65.
Sales for Etch a Sketch on Amazon were up more than 2,000 percent. The spikes showed up the day after Eric Fehrnstrom, an advisor to Mitt Romney, likened the campaign’s transition from the Republican primary to the general election to “almost like an Etch A Sketch, you can kind of shake it up and we start all over again.”"
