La Cour Suprême et l'élection présidentielle
Quelques exemples:
"And just eight days before voters head the polls, the justices will hear their first case relating to the federal government’s so-called terrorist surveillance program that allows tapping phones and email communications as part of the war on terror. None of these subjects come up often this year on the campaign trail — and all are topics the candidates have reasons to avoid. Justices aren’t likely to rule on any of them before the election. But after the historic, 5-4 decision last term upholding the crux of Obama’s signature health law, the high court’s docket could once again reverberate in the presidential race.
The case on the University of Texas’s affirmative action program, set to be argued Oct. 10, could resurrect an issue that has slipped off the national political radar for more than a decade. The first presidential debate, on domestic issues, takes place exactly one week before that. The vice presidential debate is Oct. 11. “I’ve got to believe at this point in the campaign neither the president or Governor Romney is going to want to give a quote on any of this,” said Richard Taylor, a business diversity advocate and former Massachusetts transportation secretary under Romney. “If I was preparing either candidate for the debate, this would be on the checklist, … but I don’t think either campaign will be anxious to talk about it.”

Obama jouit d'une avance solide selon Gallup
"Historically, President Obama is in a solid position to win re-election, if the Gallup tracking poll of the presidential race is any guide.
Wednesday’s release of Gallup’s 7-day tracker puts him at 50 percent to Republican candidate Mitt Romney’s 44 percent, which is well above the trend in the 2004 and 2000 elections. Those elections were dead heats. The current Gallup tracking poll has a 2 percent margin of error, which means Obama’s lead is statistically significant.
The chart below shows the position of each candidate in the last nine elections going into October and the sprint to the finish line — where they were in the Gallup poll a little more than a month out and then the final result.

Apple maps: Apple est "extrêmement désolé"...
Une transition difficile...
" In a rare public apology, Apple CEO Tim Cook on Friday wrote an open letter to customers that acknowledged widespread complaints about the company's new Maps application.
"At Apple, we strive to make world-class products that deliver the best experience possible to our customers," Cook wrote. "With the launch of our new Maps last week, we fell short on this commitment. We are extremely sorry for the frustration this has caused our customers and we are doing everything we can to make Maps better."
After using Google's (GOOG, Fortune 500) mapping data for five years, Apple (AAPL, Fortune 500) went in a new direction with the iOS 6 update to its mobile operating system, which rolled out to millions of iPhones, iPads and iPod Touch devices on Sept. 19. The new Apple Maps is also built into all iPhone 5s, which went on sale a week ago.
Apple Maps is powered by significantly less data than its predecessor. Google's enormous database of geographical points has been replaced by Yelp's far less substantial list, as well as Apple's own compiled "places of interest" database. In other words, good luck searching for your favorite off-the-beaten-path restaurant if it's not on Yelp. Spelling variations also seem to trip up the new Maps app.
Mona Lisa: une première version de la Joconde qui soulève des doutes..."
Leonardo da Vinci painted an earlier version of his famed masterpiece "Mona Lisa," claims a private Swiss art foundation dedicated solely to the alternate painting, which it unveiled Thursday.
But an expert on da Vinci in Britain says there is evidence that the Renaissance master may not have been behind the picture presented as the "Earlier Mona Lisa" but known more commonly as the "Isleworth Mona Lisa."
The Mona Lisa Foundation, based in Zurich, offers a wealth of documentation to support its argument that the painting it represents is a predecessor -- from the master's own hand -- to the world's most famous portrait hanging in the Louvre Museum in Paris. Martin Kemp, professor emeritus at Oxford University, who has examined the arguments, says the "reliable primary evidence provides no basis for thinking that there was 'an earlier' portrait of Lisa del Giocondo."

Caricature Fox News et les sondages!
Vrai que les derniers sondages de Fox News donnent un avantage à Obama!
Les sondages truqués à l'avantage d'Obama (Fox News)
"It’s clear that Fox & Friends has a tricky relationship with data. But on the show Thursday morning, the hosts took that relationship to a whole new level.
After a raft of new polls showed Obama opening up leads in swing states, the Friends flew in to full-blown conspiracy mode about what’s really behind the data.
Parroting the latest Republican meme that national polls oversample Democrats, host Steve Doocy threw in to the mix the possibility that pollsters are using voter turnout from 2008 to guide who they should be asking. And why would the “left-based mainstream media” do this? Doocy had an answer.
“Well, two reasons,” he said. “One, perhaps, to keep Mitt Romney’s donors from coughing up more cash. And two, to keep people from doing early voting.”
Co-host Gretchen Carlson had another theory: “I do think there’s a subliminal message in these daily polling things, which isn’t always great for the voter.”
One problem with the theories: FOX’s own polling also shows Obama surging in swing states. A survey released by the network just last week showed the president leading Romney by no fewer than five points in Ohio, Virginia and Florida.

Obama mène au New Hampshire, au Nevada et en Caroline du Nord
"New polls of likely voters in three battleground states show President Barack Obama with a lead over Republican challenger Mitt Romney in New Hampshire, and with a slight advantage in Nevada and North Carolina.
The NBC News/Marist/Wall Street Journal polls show Obama 7 points ahead of Romney in New Hampshire, 51% to 44%, a difference outside of the poll's sampling error of 3.1 percentage points.
In Nevada and North Carolina, Obama's advantage was two points and within the sampling error. Obama had 49% to Romney's 47% in Nevada, and 48% to Romney's 46% in North Carolina.

Netanyahou louange Obama sur la l'Iran
"In his speech to the United Nations General Assembly, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday praised President Barack Obama for speaking out against a nuclear-armed Iran earlier this week at the U.N.
“President Obama reiterated that the threat of a nuclear armed Iran cannot be contained. I very much appreciate the president’s position, as does everyone in my country,” Netanyahu said. “We share the goal of stopping Iran’s nuclear weapons programs. This goal united the people of Israel, it unites Americans — Democrats and Republicans alike — and it is shared by important leaders throughout the world.”
Netanyahu said that he is “confident” the U.S. will work with Israel to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.

Obama et la création d'emplois: un bilan positif
"Revised jobs numbers released Thursday found that 386,000 more jobs were created since 2011 than the government had previously reported — a figure that means more jobs have been created than lost on balance during President Obama’s first term.
That politically sensitive threshold has been at the center of the presidential debate. While it has little economic relevance, its political significance has been substantial, with Mitt Romney’s campaign regularly reminding voters that there has been a net loss of jobs since Obama took office.
Earlier this month on MSNBC, Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul said President Obama “hasn’t created one single net new job since he’s been president.”
The claim, though lacking some context, was true in a literal sense and served as an enticing line of attack for the Romney campaign, fueling his narrative that Obama has failed to substantially improve the economy.

Innocence des musulmans: le producteur arêté
"The man, Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, 55, was ordered held without bond during an appearance in United States District Court here Thursday evening. Suzanne H. Segal, a federal magistrate judge, called Mr. Nakoula “a flight risk and a danger to the community.” He will remain in jail until a probation-revocation hearing is scheduled.
Mr. Nakoula is widely considered to be the filmmaker responsible for “Innocence of Muslims,” an inflammatory, amateurish video that is supposedly a trailer for a full-length film.
The video depicts the Prophet Muhammad as a buffoon, a womanizer and a child molester. It was first uploaded to YouTube in June, and translated into Arabic and uploaded several more times leading up to the 11th anniversary of the terrorism attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
Mr. Nakoula was charged with eight probation violations, including lying to law-enforcement officers when they initially detained him for questioning, and using various aliases, which an assistant United States attorney, Robert Dugdale, said was “part of a lengthy pattern of deception.”

Jimmy Hoffa: de nouveaux indices?
"In America's endless search for Jimmy Hoffa, police will drill Friday beneath a concrete slab at a suburban Detroit residence after a tipster claimed a body was buried there at the same time the former Teamsters boss disappeared in 1975. Police say the tipster's information is "credible," and a radar has detected an anomaly beneath the ground at a home in Roseville, Michigan, said Police Chief James Berlin.
Authorities don't know who or what may be buried there, but crews will take a core sample and test it for human remains, Berlin said. Nearly 40 years after he vanished, Hoffa remains among America's most famous missing persons. Once one of the most powerful union leaders in America, Hoffa was forced out of the organized labor movement when he was sent to prison in 1967. He was pardoned by President Richard Nixon in 1971 and released on the condition that he not try to get back into the union movement before 1980, but he vanished in 1975. Police and the FBI have been searching for him intermittently ever since. The tipster didn't claim Hoffa's body was buried in Roseville, but he did tell police that the burial happened about the time Hoffa vanished, Berlin said. Police weren't releasing information about the tipster and were being diligent in their investigation, Berlin said."

Esclaves sexuels: Obama leur donne une voix
"When President Obama made a landmark speech against modern slavery on Tuesday, many of us in the news media shrugged. It didn’t fit into the political narrative. It wasn’t controversial, so — yawn — it wasn’t really news.
But women like Sina Vann noticed. She’s a friend of mine who was trafficked as a young girl from Vietnam into Cambodian brothels — where she was regularly punished by being locked inside coffins with scorpions and biting ants. Now an anti-trafficking activist with the Somaly Mam Foundation, she sent me an exuberant e-mail (in fractured English, her third language) with a message for Obama: “We are survivors here so proud of you, you are the big president in U.S. and you take action of trafficking. So you give victims from around the world have hope.”

"The 60-second ad, “Too Many Americans,” was Mr. Romney’s most aggressive effort to clean up the fallout from his secretly videotaped remarks at a May fund-raiser, where he called voters who do not pay income tax “victims” who are dependent on the government and feel “entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you name it.”
But the ad came nine days after the video surfaced, a period in which Democrats have bashed Mr. Romney over the remarks, leaving him on the defensive in swing states like Ohio. The ad reflected a belief among his aides that in addition to trying to move past his “47 percent” comments, Mr. Romney can appeal to voters in an intimate, personal way, bonding over their economic worries. The spot, in which Mr. Romney seems to address the viewer, is an attempt, aides said, to reveal the compassion behind the policy. “The goal is to connect with voters over their anxieties over the state of the economy, and reflect the fact that Governor Romney has a plan to fix it,” said Kevin Madden, a senior campaign adviser.

Google's self-driving cars: la Californie les autorise!
Pour l'instant l'humain est toujours derrière le volant pour la durée de l'expérience...
"The cars use a combination of technologies, including radar sensors on the front, video cameras aimed at the surrounding area, various other sensors and artificial-intelligence software that helps steer. Google is the most visible company working on these types of vehicles, but similar projects are under way at other organizations, including Caltech.
Google has already been testing the cars on the road in Nevada, which passed a law last year authorizing driverless vehicles. Both Nevada and California require the cars to have a human behind the wheel who can take control of the vehicle at any time. So far, the cars have have racked up more than 300,000 driving miles, and 50,000 of those miles were without any intervention from the human drivers, Google says."

Ahmadinejad et le nouvel ordre mondial
"“God willing, a new order will come and will do away with … everything that distances us,” Ahmadinejad told The Associated Press in an exclusive interview Tuesday, speaking through a translator. “All of the animosity, all of the lack of sincerity will come to an end. It will institute fairness and justice.”
He said the world was losing patience with the current state of affairs. “Now even elementary school kids throughout the world have understood that the United States government is following an international policy of bullying,” he said. “I do believe the system of empires has reached the end of the road. The world can no longer see an emperor commanding it.”

Obama 2012: de nouveaux sondages favorables
"President Barack Obama now claims leads in Ohio, Florida and Pennsylvania that suggest the three states are no longer battlegrounds, according to a slate of new polls out Wednesday.
The latest swing state polls from Quinnipiac University, CBS News and the New York Times show Obama holding leads of 10 points in Ohio, 9 points in Florida and 12 points in Pennsylvania. Fifty-percent of likely voters in Ohio and Florida approve of the job Obama is doing as president, compared with 47 percent who disapprove in each. The president’s approval rating is at 51 percent in Pennsylvania, while 45 percent disapprove of his job performance.
In all three states, 51 percent of voters prefer Obama over Romney to preside over the national economy — a policy area over which the president has seized the upper-hand in the last month. About 60 percent of voters in Ohio, Florida and Pennsylvania say Obama understands and cares about their problems, while similarly large majorities say Romney does not.
