Les dirigeants républicains exercent des pressions sur Donald Trump

Depuis un certain temps déjà je me demandais quand les républicains atteindraient-ils le point de rupture avec le meneur dans les sondages. D'un côté on craint que ses commentaires sur les femmes et les hispanophones nuisent aux chances du parti, mais de l'autre on semblait craindre encore plus l'éventualité d'une candidature indépendante de Donald Trump. Les dirigeants ont demandé discrètement aux candidats de confirmer leur loyauté au parti en cas de défaite. Allaient-ils tous s'engager à ne pas se présenter comme indépendants si on leur préférait un autre candidat? Bien sûr, la manoeuvre vise d'abord "The Donald".

If Trump were to pull just a fraction of the vote as an independent, write-in or third party candidate, it could be enough to sink the eventual Republican nominee.

“I [name] affirm that if I do not win the 2016 Republican nomination for president of the United States I will endorse the 2016 Republican presidential nominee regardless of who it is,” the pledge reads. “I further pledge that I will not seek to run as an independent or write-in candidate nor will I seek or accept the nomination for president of any other party.”
