Les Yankees écrivent l'histoire: trois grands chelems dans le même match!

Dont un par Russell Martin. Première fois de l'histoire du baseball! Même un fan des Red Sox peut apprécier un tel exploit.

"The Yankees had already hit two grand slams Thursday to wipe out a six-run deficit and delight a big crowd that had endured an 89-minute rain delay, a sluggish early pace in a steady drizzle and a shaky start by the Yankees right-hander Phil Hughes.
Then Curtis Granderson walked to the plate with two outs in the eighth inning, the bases loaded once again. Most of the crowd had left, but Granderson walloped the Yankees’ third grand slam, a major-league first, to cap off a wild 22-9 victory that took 4 hours 31 minutes after a rain delay of nearly an hour and a half.

It was fitting for a game of such singularity that when Anthony Recker grounded out for the final out, it was Jorge Posada that was playing second and fielded the ball. His throw bounced in the dirt, but was scooped up by a laughing Nick Swisher to end the game.

Robinson Cano hit a grand slam in the fifth inning off Oakland starter Rich Harden, and Russell Martin hit the second in the sixth inning off reliever Fautino De Los Santos.

It was the fourth time the Yankees hit two grand slams in a game, but the first since Bernie Williams and Paul O’Neill hit grand slams at Toronto on Sept. 14, 1999. Granderson’s 36th home run of the season put these Yankees in a category of their own.

Martin, who homered in the fourth inning to trim the Yankees’ deficit to 7-2, wiped out Oakland’s 7-6 lead by driving a pitch from De Los Santos into the first row in right field.
