Emmett Till: l'enquête sur son meurtre rouverte après 63 ans

Emmett Till a été enlevé, torturé et assassiné en 1955 pour avoir supposément sifflé en direction d'une femme blanche. Son meurtre aurait motivé Rosa Parks à ne pas céder son siège dans un autobus, il aurait également poussé Martin Luther King jr à l'avant-scène comme dirigeant du boycott de la compagnie de transport et il aurait influencé la rédaction du Civil rights act.. La femme blanche en question a plus tard déclaré que les accusations étaient fausses et après avoir été innocentés par un jury exclusivement blanc deux des suspects confessaient dans une entrevue être les responsables de la mort de Till. Une histoire tordue et horrible sur laquelle on portera bientôt un nouveau regard au plan judiciaire.

And now that the Justice Department is reopening its investigation into Till's lynching, there is hope that Rob Bryant and J.W. Milam, the men who kidnapped and murdered him, will be convicted for their crimes. We know they are guilty because they confessed in a paid interview with Look magazine in 1956.

 "Well, what else could we do?" Milam is quoted as saying. "When a n----- gets close to mentioning sex with a white woman, he's tired o' living. I'm likely to kill him. Me and my folks fought for this country, and we got some rights."
