To Kill a Mockingbird: version restaurée présentée par Obama

"Obama taped about a minute of remarks to air before the first national showing of a restored version of the classic tale of Southern racial tensions in the 1930s, USA Network said Tuesday. USA is airing the movie at 8 p.m. on Saturday in partnership with the American Film Institute and Universal Picture.

The White House has not yet released his remarks, which could touch on issues of race and equality.

Harper Lee, the famously publicity-shy author of the book on which the movie is based said in a statement that she is "deeply honored that President Obama will be celebrating the 50th Anniversary of 'To Kill A Mockingbird' by introducing it to a national audience."

"I believe it remains the best translation of a book to film ever made, and I'm proud to know that Gregory Peck's portrayal of Atticus Finch lives on -- in a world that needs him now more than ever," she said."
