Obama apposera son veto à Keystone XL

La Maison Blanche a révélé plus tôt aujourd'hui que le Président Obama utiliserait son veto si le congrès votait un projet de loi en faveur du pipeline Keystone XL. Obama a repoussé une décision dans ce dossier depuis six ans et il s'agit de son premier affrontement avec cette nouvelle session du congrès qui débutait ses travaux le 3 janvier. Comme je le mentionnais hier, il faudrait un vote à la majorité des 2/3 dans chacune des chambres du congrès pour renverser le veto présidentiel.

 "Obama would not say in recent months whether he would veto another bill to authorize the pipeline, but suggested that his position hadn't changed since he last threatened a veto over the pipeline.

A bill to authorize the pipeline failed in the last weeks of the Democratic-led Senate last year, but a new Republican majority ensured the vote could reach a 60-vote filibuster proof majority. Supporters of the pipeline would need to whip 67 votes in the Senate to override a presidential veto."
